Magnum Ice Cream Bar (Eat Ice Cream like a Royale)

I got to first taste the Magnum ice cream, I think, a month ago and it was the Almond flavor. I was at Mcdo, reading a case and deciding how to write a pre-work case /  finishing the outline of my Tween Hearts sequence treatment. Dahil sa gusto ko na muna mag-break ay nagmamadali akong tumawid papuntang 7-11 para bumili ng Magnum Ice Cream.

Na-curious kasi isa si Solenn  Heussaff sa kanilang mga endorsers. And since natutuwa ako kay Solenn kasi feeling ko lang ay maganda ang improvement ng pag-arte niya from Captain Barbell to Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow. Kaya ayun, wala pa siyang three days sa market ay isa na ako sa mga nagkandarapang bumili at nakiisa sa Magnum Craze!

Pero ano ba ang Magnum Ice Cream bar? Well, ayon sa Wikipedia, Magnum is an ice cream brand owned by the British/Dutch Unilever company, and sold as part of the Heartbrand line of products in most countries. It was originally made by Frisko in AarhusDenmark. The original 1987 Magnum (later rebranded as Magnum Classic) consisted of a thick bar of vanilla ice cream on a stick, covered with white or dark chocolate, with a weight of 86 grams (120 ml).

So ibig sabihin pala, matalagal ng may Magnum noon at ngayon ay nagbabalik siya. No wonder, popular pala ito talaga kahit sa ibang bansa. Si Rachel Bilson, former star of the hit TV series na The O.C. ay ang napili namang spokesperson ng Magnum Brand sa States.

Ice cream overload! Nag-Mcflurry na! Nag-Magnum pa ko!

Sa Pilipinas, halos Kapuso stars ang endorsers ng Magnum at GMA Network naman ang official media partner nito. Nakita ko kasi yung malaking tarp ng Magnum sa GMA Building eh so I assume na malaki ang possibility na GMA 7 nga ang malaking sponsor nito.

The Magnum Ice Cream bar is covered with Belgian chocolate. Ang Belgian chocolate o chocolate bonbons ay popular sa maraming bansa. It is also considered by many as one of the most masasarap at finest tsokalate sa buong mundo. Tinatawag nga tong ice cream ng mga royale eh.

Sa Pilipinas, tatlo pa lang ang flavor na nilalabas…that’s the Classic, Almond and Truffle. At sa tatlong yan, hindi ko pa nasusubukan yung truffle kasi for me, parang redundant na chocolate na yung cover tapos chocolate pa rin yung nasa loob. Pero most possibly, susubukan ko rin yang Truffle flavor. Pero as of now, stick ako doon sa Almond flavor. Trivia: Ang Belgian chocolate ay hindi agad natutunaw. Kaya kahit 30 minutes nyo nang hindi kinakain ang Magnum Bar at may balot pa siya, hindi pa rin tunaw yung Belgian chocolate kaya may possibility na matigas pa rin yung ice cream sa loob.

But what’s up with the taste of Magnum? Masarap ba to o pangit? Kung ako ang tatanungin, it’s worth a try at okay naman ang lasa niya Swak din naman sa presyo na 50 pesos – 60 pesos. Kapag nakatikim ka naman ng Magnum Ice Cream, hindi mo naman sasabihing pangit, hindi mo rin sasabihing sobrang sarap. Sakto lang yung lasa. And for some weird reason, kahit na sakto lang yung lasa niya ay ako, personally, hindi ko alam kung bakit kumakain ako ng dalawang Magnum Ice Cream bars sa isang linggo.

Oh well, I have to control myself now. And I’ll do it. Sa May na ko kakain ulit nito. Ayoko lang na kumakain ng sobra and two Magnums a week is really over eating for me.

So, that’s it. Try nyo and judge it.
